Please do NOT sign your child(ren) up for everything!

Yep, you heard me correctly...don't sign them up for everything! Now allow me to explain.

Alot of times, we home educators are tempted to feel as thought we have something to prove to a world that may not understand homeschooling. Are are children properly socialized? Are they getting a well-rounded educational experience? Are they involved in enough activities?

You need not yield to outside pressure to have your children involved in everything! May I make a suggestion? Observe what they might be interested in. Give your kids exposure to different things by letting them try and activity or two. Be willing to stretch a little, but don't let their schedule outpace yours! Make sure you do what you do for them, not to make you look good, or to impress with your "busy" schedule.

We are homeschooling to let our kids learn at a different pace, in different ways, and there are seasons for everything. Take the pressure off, give them experiences, but don't overload! Let's enjoy our kids and the activities they want to do...and then we all win.

Have a great weekend,
Dee

I cannot agree enough with this. Too many activities (and that means three or four for us) wears us OUT. Without energy, we can't focus on the 3Rs that are the foundation of an education. We are very choosy about our extra-curriculars.
