Hi all! I know that it has been a long while since I have posted here, and I thank you for hanging in there with me. It has always been my intention to offer encouragement here for the homeschooling parent as I live the home education life with you.
While that desire hasn't changed, I have discovered that it has become a bit much for me to keep up with my home education responsibilities AND post on my two blogs.
So..as of now, I will be concentrating on writing on my main blog, RefreshingTalk.blogspot.com, in an effort to streamline my writing energies. I invite you (if you haven't already) to subscribe to Refreshing Talk. I think that you will receive encouragement in a variety of ways there, and you will be part of some neat reviews and giveaways as well.
Again, I thank you for your support here, and I look forward to seeing you for some Refreshing Talk over there!
Gratefully,
Dee

It's going to be a fruitful year...
I choose to frame my future with my words, and speak blessing the way my Father speaks them; thus the title of this post. I STARTED to say that it is going to be a long year, with the amount of work and things that we need to cover. I am not feeling as overwhelmed as I used to feel in years past, but the fear tries to arise regularly, at least weekly, fear that I am not properly equipping my kids.
However....
I refuse to let my words go that way, so I choose to speak words of hope and faith, and I encourage you to do the same. Even though we will be working hard, I believe that God will fill in the gaps and spaces and take us further along than we thought we'd get. I believe that He is opening doors of opportunity and blessing for my kids that no man can shut, and that my children walk in God's favor and anointing. He is ordering their steps and setting them up for their future!
Wow, it feels great to say that. It IS going to be a very fruitful year, and I believe yours will be as well!
Keep speaking God's word for your life,
Dee

Learning as you grow!
If anyone asks me about how I have home educated for 12 years, I always let them know that it is a learning process. I am learning as I myself grow!
I am no superwoman in doing this, nor do I take credit for what we have been able to do in educating our 3 children. To God be the glory because He surely has been my help as I have learned to navigate my way through these years as a homeschooling mom. I pray and listen to His creativity for these kiddos whom He created ;-)
In what ways do you feel that you are better at this now than you we're when you first started?

1st day of high school...at a public school!
Today, we celebrate my 9th grade daughter (the middle child and eldest girl) making her foray into the land of public high school! This is something she has planned for since her 6th grade year as a home educated student.
Needless to say, this will be a short post as I am still processing the dynamics of this change for our family. We still have 2 educating at home: our 11th grade son, and our 7th grade daughter. I have been through the full range of emotion (except for anger, not feeling any of that), and it feels a bit strange not having her here at home today.
I will look to post updates as we walk this out. Make no mistake: this is a good thing, and we have God's peace about this direction for her. It may or may not be a permanent track...she wants to do this for THIS year, even though we have set her educational track there at her high school for all 4 years.
Momma is good....but I am missing my baby! Pray for me, us. Will update when I can.
Dee
